Better Homes & Harvests

Our Story

The journey behind Better Homes & Harvests and our mission to inspire a more connected way of living.

Better Homes & Harvests began with a simple idea: to create a welcoming space where traditional skills meet modern living. Our founder, Sarah, grew up helping her grandmother tend a sprawling vegetable garden and preserve the harvest each fall.

After years in the city, she found herself longing for that connection to the land and the satisfaction of growing, cooking, and creating with her own hands. When she and her husband purchased their first homestead in 2018, she began documenting their journey and sharing what they learned along the way.

What started as a personal blog has grown into a community of like-minded individuals all seeking a more intentional way of living – whether on a rural homestead or in a city apartment with a windowsill herb garden.

Our Mission

At Better Homes & Harvests, we believe that everyone can benefit from incorporating elements of self-sufficiency into their lives. Our mission is to:

  • Preserve and share traditional homesteading skills for modern families
  • Inspire readers to grow, cook, and create with their own hands
  • Build a community that values sustainability, seasonality, and craftsmanship
  • Make homesteading accessible to everyone, regardless of location or experience

The Team

Today, Better Homes & Harvests is created by a small team of passionate writers, photographers, and homesteaders who bring their unique expertise to every article, recipe, and tutorial.

We test every project, grow the plants we recommend, and prepare each recipe multiple times to ensure you'll have success in your own home and garden.
